Chat from your browser
Orkut has recently added more spice to its already long list of improvements this year. Besides scrapping your contacts and replying to community posts you can now chat with them. This works just like the Google Chat application that is mbedded in the GMail page. By default, the application is automatically activated on logging
in to Orkut. You can however activate or deactivate the application from the ‘Settings’ menu. Here’s how you activate it,
step 1: Log into your Orkut profile and click ‘Settings’ on the left pane of your home
page.step 2: Click the ‘Chat’ tab.
step 3: Click the ‘Allow all my Orkut friends to chat with me’ checkbox.
step 4: Select the group of friends with who you want to chat.
step 5: Make sure you click ‘Save changes’ once you are done.
Once you have saved the changes, the Orkut chat application will initialize on your machine. Online contacts will be represented by a green or red dot near the profile image of the user. The color of this dot depends on whether the user’s status is set as ‘Available’ or ‘Away’. Doing so will open up the chat window that resembles the GTalk chat window. Do disable this feature simply rollback the process.
